Life on the Croft

Our croft is a small place on the Black Isle, just 10 minutes outside of Inverness. Set in 42 Acres of Arable land, and currently with 140 Lambs, 45 Ewes, and a dozen Cattle, there's plenty to see!

We are ideally placed for the many hillwalking opportunities in the surrounding area, with easy access to the West and North. The house overlooks Ben Wyvis, Munro #85, at 1085m and gives a wonderful view across Easter Ross and the Cromarty Firth.

Nearby golf courses offer some of the best golfing that Scotland has to offer, with numerous golf courses throughout Ross-shire. Royal Dornoch is only an hour's drive away, and Nairn is 30-40 mins.

Being a working croft, theres always something going on. In the Spring we have lambing, which can last for 4-5weeks, usually starting in mid-March. That is closely followed by making Hay and Silage for the winter feed. Then comes our next intake of new stock, and selling off the animals that we have wintered, whether it be young cattle, or sheep. Once into winter, the cattle come inside, so that means a daily, twice a day feed.

Kids would love lambing, when they can really get close to some of the cuter additions to Highland Croft.
